All-Star appearances: 0 Stats: 7-2, 3.36 ERA in 13 starts; 80 1/3 innings pitched, 79 hits, 25 walks, 57 strikeouts Why he'll make it: The Taiwan native has been one of the Orioles' best pitchers, picking up where he left off last year in Japan. He is tied with Hammel for the team lead in wins, and he has strong numbers across the board. Why he won't: For a rookie to make the All-Star team, he has to take the league by storm. Chen has been very good and very consistent. But he¿s below Hammel in several other more proven pitchers. Teammate's take: "Coming over from Japan and going right into the AL East, that's not an easy thing to do -- especially with the language barrier," Hammel said. "We have done everything we can to make him feel comfortable. And I am sure he is, because he fits right in, but obviously he deserves recognition, too." Connolly's take: Unless he makes a huge push in the next week, Chen won't make the All-Star team. But the fact people think he is worthy is an accomplishment.
