( Baltimore Sun ) The former Terrapin is Maryland's entry in the World Golf Hall of Fame. A savvy putter, Beman won two U.S. Amateur championships, the British Amateur and five PGA Tour titles. He competed on four U.S. Walker Cup teams, pairing with Jack Nicklaus to win the event in 1961. Beman, from Bethesda, later became commissioner of the PGA Tour and a golf-course architect. |
