Big, strong and fast, he was the prototype for the modern linebacker. Except that Lipscomb played defensive tackle for one of the great Baltimore Colts teams. At 6 feet 6 and 305 pounds, he menaced rivals for five seasons here and made first-team All-Pro in 1958 and 1959, leading the Colts to world championships both years. Lipscomb died of a heroin overdose in 1963.
