Through three quarters, Jamal Lewis' 108 yards rushing accounted for nearly half of the Ravens' total offense. He powered his way in between the tackles early and then kept the defense off-balance by bouncing to the outside in the second half. The Jaguars couldn't match Lewis' power and allowed a 100-yard rusher for the third straight game. The Ravens are 7-0 when Lewis runs for 100 yards. Edge: Ravens.
Ravens passing vs. Jaguars pass defense
Quarterback Chris Redman wasn't spectacular but he was effective. The first-year starter made the throws he needed to make, going 3-for-4 for 62 yards in a third-quarter scoring drive and earlier hitting tight end Todd Heap in the back of the end zone for the first touchdown. In all three of the Ravens' wins, Redman has yet to throw an interception. Heap continues to make with the highlight catches, and he showed off some elusive moves on his second touchdown catch, a 20-yarder. Edge: Ravens.
Jaguars rushing vs. Ravens run defense
The Ravens missed Ray Lewis' sideline-to-sideline play. Jacksonville running back Fred Taylor made the Ravens look silly at times with his juke moves and exposed them on the edges. Taylor's 151 yards rushing was the fourth-biggest total allowed by the Ravens in their history. On the Jaguars' only touchdown drive, Taylor produced all 25 yards and beat Chris McAlister to the outside on a 9-yard scoring run. Edge: Jaguars.
Jaguars passing vs. Ravens pass defense
The Ravens' pass defense bent in the fourth quarter, when it surrendered 108 yards. But the Ravens got their reprieve with Will Demps' game-ending interception. McAlister shadowed receiver Jimmy Smith and never let him be a factor in the game. Peter Boulware recorded a sack and pressured quarterback Mark Brunell countless times. Brunell's 231 yards passing was his third-lowest performance against the Ravens. Edge: Ravens.
Do the Jaguars even have a kicker? They chose not to try field goals from 29, 41 and 48 yards, and Hayden Epstein missed a 39-yarder. Ravens kicker Matt Stover converted a 30-yard field goal after coming up short on a 46-yarder. Ravens punter Dave Zastudil placed three of his six kicks inside the 20-yard line. Edge: Ravens.
Ravens' offensive line. Injuries hit this group hard, but the line delivered a bruising effort. Despite playing two backups and with Edwin Mulitalo out of position, the Ravens' front line paved openings for Lewis' 119-yard rushing day.
