Designated hitters

The week was a tale of two designated hitters. Regular DH Chris Davis delivered a so-so performance, with three hits in 12 at-bats and just one RBI. Lew Ford (pictured), however, stepped in for three games and also went 3-for-12, but delivered home runs in back-to-back games against the White Sox. It was a workmanlike week overall, but a contending American League team generally needs to get more than three RBIs in seven games from the designated hitter slot. Grade: C
