Angels Add TV Games

Fox Sports Net has agreed to a dramatic jump in the number of Angel telecasts this season, enabling the team to televise almost every regular-season game this year.

Although its contract with the Angels requires the cable channel to air only 50 games, Fox Sports Net has negotiated a one-year deal to carry 78, said John Carpino, the Angels’ senior vice president of sales and marketing.

The Angels also plan to air 46 games on Channel 9, 11 on Channel 56 and 10 on Channel 30, plus two in Spanish on Channel 22, Carpino said Thursday. The patchwork arrangement covers only this season.

The broadcast contracts inherited by owner Arte Moreno guaranteed 90 local telecasts, the fewest of any American League team. The Angels also have been selected for six national appearances on ESPN and Fox this season, so the tentative broadcast schedule includes 153 games.

The Angels are seeking approval from Major League Baseball and plan to announce the final broadcast schedule next week.
