Most Angelenos have spent at least part of a day at one of these six locations in the Southland. Some are no longer in use, some have seen their best days, and some look as nice as the day they were built, but they all remain landmarks of life in Los Angeles, whether you were a fan of the team playing there or not.

Dodger Stadium
Debut: The Cincinnati Reds defeated the Dodgers, 6-3, in the first regular-season game played at Dodger Stadium, on April 10, 1962.
How much did it cost? $18 million.
Who plays there? Dodgers.
Special moments: Kirk Gibson's pinch-hit, two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning in Game 1 of the 1988 World Series (Oct. 15); rookie Fernando Valenzuela pitches a shutout in the 1981 home opener (April 9).

Coliseum
Debut: The USC Trojans defeated Pomona College, 23-7, in the first varsity football game played at the Coliseum, on Oct. 6, 1923.
How much did it cost? $1 million.
Who plays there? USC football.
Special moment: Rafer Johnson's lighting the flame at the opening ceremony of the 1984 Summer Olympics (July 28, 1984). The Coliseum remains the only facility in the world to play host to two Olympics (1932, 1984).

Sports Arena
Debut: Groundbreaking April 7, 1958; dedication July 4, 1959.
How much did it cost? $6 million.
Who plays there? Nobody (USC basketball is moving to Galen Center, an on-campus facility, next season).
Special moments: Wilt Chamberlain made his National Basketball Assn. debut with the Philadelphia Warriors on Sept. 30, 1959. Chamberlain scored 28 points in a 106-102 exhibition victory over the St. Louis Hawks. UCLA won national championships in men's basketball at the Sports Arena in 1968 (over North Carolina) and 1972 (over Florida State).
