* Cleveland 3, at New York 0: Cliff Lee threw seven sharp innings and beat Chien-Ming Wang in a matchup of unbeaten starters. Lee (6-0) became the first Indians pitcher to win his first six starts since Greg Swindell in 1988 and lowered his major league-best earned-run average to 0.84. He has not walked a batter in 28 innings.

* at Oakland 6, Baltimore 5 (10 innings): Mark Ellis broke out of his offensive funk in a big way, hitting the first game-ending home run of his career with two outs in the 10th inning. Ellis connected on a 1-0 pitch from loser Lance Cormier (0-1), a solo shot that hit the left-field foul pole. Ellis, hitless in 17 at-bats, ended his slump with a two-out single with two outs in the sixth.

* at Toronto 6, Tampa Bay 2: Shaun Marcum came one out from a shutout and Scott Rolen hit a two-run homer. Marcum (4-2) struck out nine, giving two runs in 8 2/3 innings. He won back-to-back starts for the first time this season and lowered his earned-run to 2.59.

* Texas 2, at Seattle 0: Vicente Padilla gave up two hits over seven innings to outpitch Erik Bedard. Milton Bradley hit his fourth homer in the sixth and scored both runs.

* at Detroit 10, Boston 9: Placido Polanco hit a broken-bat, tiebreaking single with two outs in the ninth off Jonathan Papelbon. Todd Jones (1-0) pitched the ninth for Detroit.

* Minnesota 13, at Chicago 1: Carlos Gomez became the first Twins player since Kirby Puckett 22 years ago to hit for the cycle.

* at Kansas City 9, Angels 4: David DeJesus and Alex Gordon homered and the Royals, the lowest-scoring team in the American League, banged out 14 hits.
