Freddy Sanchez leads Pirates past Braves, 3-2
* at Pittsburgh 3, Atlanta 2: Freddy Sanchez singled home Brian Bixler with two out in the bottom of the ninth inning. Sanchez went two for four and is nine for 17 in four games since being moved to the top of the lineup.
* at Chicago 3, Arizona 1: In the fifth inning, the Diamondbacks intentionally walked Reed Johnson to get to pitcher Ted Lilly – a .124 career hitter – who singled on a 1-and-0 pitch to drive in Mark DeRosa. Alfonso Soriano then doubled to give the Cubs a 2-1 lead.
* Florida 7, at Washington 3: The Marlins (21-14) are seven games over .500 for the first time since September 2005.
* at Milwaukee 4, St. Louis 3: Rickie Weeks hit a bases loaded, two-run single with two out in the bottom of the ninth to end the Brewers’ six-game losing streak.
* Philadelphia 7, at San Francisco 4: Jimmy Rollins led the Phillies in his long-awaited return. The reigning MVP came off the disabled list and hit a two-run homer and an RBI double.
* Colorado 4, at San Diego 2: Aaron Cook improved to 9-3 against the Padres in 17 appearances – 15 starts.
* Cincinnati at New York, rain: The game was postponed because of rain. It will be made up today as part of a day-night doubleheader.
* Houston 7, at Dodgers 1: Derek Lowe struggled again and his earned-run average went up to 4.43.
