They’re at rough point
With Cassell gone and Livingston still recovering from injury, team likely will address point guard position this summer.
Bowling-ball-type point guard Baron Davis bowled them Saturday. Tonight, most-valuable-player candidate Chris Paul looks to dart and dodge his way through the line. With two games remaining, the Clippers have seen their share of opposing point guards go past, through and by them. It figures to be a position they need to upgrade this summer – be it through the draft, trade or free agency.
Also a fixture in the Clippers’ off-season plans is the health of point guard Shaun Livingston as he recovers from a serious knee injury that has sidelined him for more than a year. Livingston is due a qualifying offer of $5.8 million this summer or he becomes an unrestricted free agent.
“No disrespect to the guys we have at the helm now, but Sam Cassell left,” Elton Brand said. “He started for the last few years and the other guys do their best, but it’s definitely a need we need to focus on. In the West it’s incredible what these … [point guards] are doing and the way they are playing.”

The Clippers still have a stake in this historic playoff hunt.
They play the New Orleans Hornets and Houston Rockets to end the season and are a combined 0-5 against them. The Hornets can still finish anywhere from first to fifth in the Western Conference.
“Each game for us now is about trying to play hard, play the best of our ability and play to win,” Clippers Coach Mike Dunleavy said.
Added Brand: “Not just to have an imprint on the landscape of the playoffs, but just for us. We want to win.”
