Mavericks prevail in Nowitzki’s return
Nowitzki scores 18 points after a four-game injury absence as Dallas beats Golden State, 111-86
* at Dallas 111, Golden State 86: Dirk Nowitzki scored 18 points after missing four games because of ankle and knee injuries and the Mavericks won their first game against an above-.500 team (1-11) since acquiring Jason Kidd, who had five points, 17 assists and 11 rebounds. Golden State fell a game out of the eighth playoff spot.
* at Boston 92, Indiana 77: Kevin Garnett had 20 points and 11 rebounds and the Celtics won their fifth in a row to tie the NBA record for best single-season turnaround by improving to 60-15 after a 24-58 finish last season.
* Cleveland 118, at Charlotte 114: LeBron James scored 29 points before fouling out for the third time in his career to help the Cavaliers end a six-game losing streak on the road. He fouled out with 3:56 left.
* New Orleans 106, at Miami 77: Tyson Chandler was 10 for 10 from the floor, and his 20-point, 10-rebound effort helped the Hornets finish a trip 5-1 and stay atop the Western Conference.
* at Atlanta 127, Toronto 120 (OT): Mike Bibby made a tying three-pointer in regulation, Josh Smith made two in overtime and the Hawks won their fifth in a row to move four games ahead of Indiana in the final playoff spot.
* at Utah 117, Minnesota 100: Mehmet Okur made four three-pointers and led seven Jazz players in double figures with 22 points. Utah won for the 24th time in its last 25 home games and improved to 34-4 there.
* at Memphis 130, New York 114: Javaris Crittenton scored 23 points, Rudy Gay added 21 and the Grizzlies sent the Knicks (20-55) to their sixth straight road loss to keep them on pace for their first 60-loss season.
* Milwaukee 110, at Washington 109: Ramon Sessions made a 19-foot jumper at the buzzer to spoil Gilbert Arenas’ return to the Wizards. Arenas (17 points) played for the first time since November knee surgery.
* Clippers 102, at Seattle 84: Elton Brand made his season debut after off-season Achilles’ tendon surgery, scoring 14 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter.
* at Lakers 104, Portland 91: Kobe Bryant had 14 of his 36 points in the fourth quarter and Pau Gasol added 10 points in his first game since a March 14 ankle sprain.
