Broken foot still not healed for Lakers’ Ariza
The forward, sidelined since Jan. 20, is doubtful for the start of playoffs.
Lakers forward Trevor Ariza is doubtful for the start of the playoffs after a CT scan this morning showed that a broken bone in his right foot still had not fully healed.
Ariza, however, was approved to increase his running on an anti-gravity treadmill from 70% to 80% of his body weight this week. He will increase it to 90% next week.
An official timetable for his return was not provided by the team.
Ariza has been out since Jan. 20. The Lakers end the regular season Tuesday against Sacramento and begin the playoffs either April 19 or, more likely, April 20.
Ariza is the second Laker in as many days to receive unfavorable medical news.
Center Andrew Bynum is also doubtful for the start of the playoffs after a knee specialist in New York did not clear him to begin practicing. Bynum has been out since Jan. 13 because of a left-knee injury.
