Salisbury 80, York (Pa.) 60: Senior Elijah Gore poured in a career-high 24 points, including a career-best six 3-pointers and Travon Vann added 22 as the third-seeded Sea Gulls dispatched the sixth-seeded Spartans in the first round of the CAC tournament.
The Sea Gulls (19-7, 9-3), who won their sixth straight, advance to face second-seeded Wesley in the semifinals Thursday at 7 p.m. in Dover, Del.
Junior Tim Harwood chipped in with 16 points to round out three Sea Gulls in double figures.
Salisbury shot more than 60 percent (17-for-28) in the first half from the field and 68 percent (13-for-19) from 3-point range to jump out to commanding lead at halftime.
Gore hit the first of his 3s at the 16:43 mark of the first half to give Salisbury a 10-4 lead and drained his second 55 seconds later to push it to a 13-7 advantage.
The lead grew to 11 at 19-8 on consecutive 3s by Brandyn Wilkerson and Vann. Two more from downtown from Vann and Gore, respectively, extended the Sea Gulls' cushion to 36-16 with 8:32 remaining in the half and forced a York (7-19, 2-10) timeout.
Vann hit another three with 1:30 left to make it 49-30, but the Spartans closed with six straight points to cut the deficit to 13 at the break.
Freshman Dominique Johnson was the other Tiger in double figures, with 18 points and five assists.
Junior Nyree Williams pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds and had five assists. Shante Evans (10 points, 11 rebounds) and Candace Bond (16 points) led Hofstra in scoring.
Salisbury 54, St. Mary's 44: With a late second-half run, the Sea Gulls defeated the Seahawks in the first round of the CAC tournament.
Salisbury (15-11, 7-5) tied the game for the seventh time in the second half, 36-36, before taking the lead for the night.
A jumper by sophomore Anna Hackett gave the Sea Gulls a five-point cushion before the Seahawks (10-13, 4-8) cut the lead to 42-39 as Marche Pearson scored two. Salisbury then went on a 6-0 run to go up by nine as Hackett went 2-for-2 at the line.
Hackett was perfect from the stripe, hitting all 10 attempts while going 5-for-12 from the field for a team-high 20 points while adding seven assists.
York (Pa.) 74, Frostburg State 38: For the second time in five days, the Bobcats (6-20, 2-9 CAC) lost to the Spartans (20-6, 8-4), this time in the first round of the CAC tournament. Steph Straka finished her career with a 14-point, 12-rebound effort to lead the Bobcats in the loss.
