Lance Stephenson does help Austin Rivers up despite reports

Share

A video that shows Lance Stephenson failing to help Austin Rivers up after Rivers fell to the ground during the Clippers’ first preseason game against the Denver Nuggets on Friday is making its rounds on the Internet.

Only thing is, Stephenson did help Rivers up.

SB Nation first posted the video, which shows Rivers and Stephenson on a two-on-one fastbreak. Rivers chose to shoot a contested layup over Emmanuel Mudiay instead of dishing the ball to a wide-open Stephenson. Rivers then fell to the ground and Stephenson looked at Rivers, gesticulated, then walked away instead of helping Rivers up.

That video, however, cut off too soon. Stephenson then walked over to Rivers and helped him up, as can clearly be seen in this video.

Before the Clippers’ season began, Stephenson, whom the Clippers acquired in June from the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for Matt Barnes and Spencer Hawes, tried to debunk rumors that he’s a bad locker room guy.

The shooting guard reportedly had issues with his first two NBA teams over being a bad teammate, and he once famously blew in LeBron James’ ear.

During Stephenson’s introductory news conference over the summer, the shooting guard denied that he’s ever been a bad teammate.

“I want to take that title off my name because that’s not me,” Stephenson said in June. “I’m a good locker room guy.”
