Clippers’ Glen Davis is questionable for Game 7 against Spurs
Clippers’ Glen Davis, who has been known to energize his teammates and the crowd, may not be up for Game 7 after injuring his ankle in Game 6.
Clippers’ reserve forward Glen Davis is questionable for Saturday’s Game 7 against the Spurs at Staples Center after sustaining a sprained left ankle in Game 6.
“Big Baby, it’s an ankle sprain, and we’ll find out more tomorrow, really,” Clippers Coach Doc Rivers said in a conference call on Friday. “We won’t know much today.”
Davis suffered the injury while awkwardly landing as he guarded Tiago Splitter in the first minute of the fourth quarter. Davis was helped off the court and did not return. He was later seen heading to the locker room via wheelchair.
When asked who will play for Davis if he’s unavailable, Rivers said “lots of people.”
“We got [Hedo] Turk[oglu], we got Spencer [Hawes], we can go small,” Rivers said. “We basically did it last night.”
Davis has averaged 3.2 points and 2.8 rebounds in 12.3 minutes a game over six games for the Clippers.
His contribution to the team, however, extends beyond those numbers, especially at home. He’s been known to energize both the crowd and the team with his emotional play.
The Clippers and the Spurs are tied at 3-3 in their first-round best-of-seven playoff series, after the Clippers won Game 6 in San Antonio, 102-96. Whichever team wins Game 7 will advance to the second round of the playoffs against Houston, while the loser will be eliminated.
