Rodney McGruder will be crucial to K-State March success (March 22, 2013)

When you watch a basketball game in the media room, you can hear all the interactions between the referee's, players and coaches. It's pretty entertaining.

And the cursing is large, trash talking too. Like I said, it's entertaining.

Power and Light District is a buzz for the first day of basketball and K-State fans are showing up in droves. KU Fans outnumbered them in the hundreds for the Big 12 Title game and it prompted Bruce Weber said he hoped that his fans showed up better for their game with La Salle.

They will need the fans support at every step of this journey but K-State is set up well for a run deep into the tournament. They got extra rest with the Friday game versus a Thursday game. Rodney McGruder is on fire right now and Jordan Henriquez and Thomas Gipson are finding little bits and piece of their game that sparked them in March of 2012.

Are they perfect? Not by a long shot but they are a pretty good team and if the draw keeps setting up in their favor, who's to say they can't go deep?

Of course, they must get past La Salle Friday. The Explorers are loose in the locker room, loose on the court and should carry that with them against the Wildcats.

It's speed versus strength with K-State and La Salle. They know they are small, they know their guards need to have great games to win Friday. Tension will not be a problem for them come gametime. We shall see a little after 2 p.m.
