Amazing what a week does.

Last week, Shocker fans were lining up for happy pills as their team was in the midst of a three-game slide. "Bubble team" was starting to get thrown around and everyone, including the players and coaches were scratching their heads wondering, "what happened?"

But then Missouri State came to Wichita and it turned around everyone's perceptions. The Drake Bulldogs came to town and all that nervousness was gone with a 71-56 win Wednesday night.

And not only were they trying to get their mojo back, they had to do it knowing Creighton would be playing too, and there was a chance to grab sole possession of the MVC lead.

After UNI took down Creighton 61-54 only minutes after their game ended, it was mission accomplished (for now).

Wichita State is now in sole possession of the Valley race, a game ahead of the Bluejays who dropped down into a tie with Indiana State, also losers Tuesday night.

It's funny how things work out - at the beginning of the month, it was all gloom and doom at the Roundhouse, wondering when the bleeding would stop. Now after back to back dominating wins, optimism couldn't be higher for Wichita State.

WSU went on a 15-2 run to close the first half up double digits and put it in cruise control from there for the 15-point win. Make no mistake that saying cruise control doesn't mean they slacked off. Wichita State was in the zone against the Bulldogs.

Dunks, three's, loose balls and rebounds; all went Wichita State's way. They hold the Missouri Valley Conference's best defense and flexed that, holding Drake to 35 percent shooting all night. That's how you win championships.

Confidence is back, mojo is back but more importantly scoring is back and they are playing some impressive basketball. Fred Van Vleet had his best game in a Shocker uniform Wednesday. Carl Hall continues his ressurection with a double-double against the Bulldogs. The offense is flowing again like it did when they reached 19-1 and were ranked 14th in the country.

This run could not have come at a better time because Wichita State has three of the final five games on the road; Illinois State, Indiana State and Creighton. (Not to mention the Bracket Buster game vs. Detroit... but at least that's at home).

Mojo will carry them into these games but playing solid basketball will get them out with wins, and not many teams are playing better basketball over the past two games than WSU.
