UCLA Gets Jump on Irvine, 92-54

Noelle Quinn scored 24 points Wednesday night to lead No. 23 UCLA to a 92-54 win over UC Irvine at Pauley Pavilion.

Quinn was nine for 18 from the field and made six of seven free throws. She also added seven rebounds and six assists.

The Bruins (3-2) raced to a 18-4 lead in just under four minutes and led, 46-27, at halftime.

UCLA scored the first seven points of the second half and led, 61-28, with 15:38 left to play.

UC Irvine (0-5) was led by Kirian Ishizaki, who scored 10 points, all in the first half.

The Bruins also had a strong game from Lisa Willis, who finished with 20 points.

UCLA freshman guard Ashlee Trebilcock has decided to transfer at the end of the fall quarter and has left the team. She appeared in four games with the Bruins, averaging 3.5 points, 1.8 rebounds and 17.8 minutes.

“I have decided to leave UCLA because I did not fit the program the way I thought I would,” Trebilcock said.

Coach Kathy Olivier said she was surprised by the request but released Trebilcock from her scholarship.

No. 4 Ohio State 73, Dayton 31 -- Brandie Hoskins scored 16 points and Jessica Davenport 14 for the Buckeyes (4-0) at Columbus, Ohio. The Flyers (2-2) turned the ball over 32 times and shot 26%.

No. 21 New Mexico 62, No. 10 Minnesota 44 -- Katie Montgomery made four three-pointers and scored 16 points for the Lobos (6-1) at Albuquerque. The Gophers (4-1) came in averaging 79 points, but shot 28.3%.

No. 14 DePaul 91, Wisconsin-Milwaukee 79 -- Khara Smith and Allie Quigley each scored 23 points at Milwaukee to lead the Blue Demons (6-0) over the Panthers (2-3).

No. 17 Georgia 90, Middle Tennessee State 72 -- Megan Darrah scored a career-high 24 points at Murfreesboro, Tenn., to lead the Bulldogs (4-2), who played without suspended sophomore forward Tasha Humphrey. The Blue Raiders are 3-2.

North Carolina State 76, No. 19 Vanderbilt 67 -- Ashley Key scored 23 points at Raleigh, N.C., to lead the Wolfpack (3-2) and help end a five-game winning streak by the Commodores (5-2).

No. 20 Oklahoma 77, Texas Christian 63 -- Courtney Paris had 22 points and 17 rebounds at Norman, Okla., to lead the Sooners (6-1) over the Horned Frogs (2-3).
