On the day Hyun-Jin Ryu returned to the Dodgers’ spring-training camp, right-hander Brandon League said he would undergo an MRI examination on his right shoulder.

League is expected to start the season on the disabled list.

“He hasn’t pitched in a while,” Manager Don Mattingly said. “You guys can do the math part.”
League said he felt discomfort during a bullpen session Tuesday.

“From the first time I picked up the ball yesterday, I could tell something was different,” League said.

League has been dealing with discomfort in his shoulder this spring and has pitched in only two Cactus League games.

League didn’t offer a timetable for his return.

Neither did Ryu, who had a little to say about the results of his own MRI examination.

Ryu underwent an MRI examination Monday that revealed there were no significant changes in his shoulder from the time he signed with the Dodgers in 2012.

Ryu said he wasn’t particularly concerned heading into the examination.

“It’s a very similar pain as last year,” he said.
