Corey Seager, Yimi Garcia to represent Dodgers at Fall Stars game

Shortstop Corey Seager and right-hander Yimi Garcia will represent the Dodgers at the Arizona Fall League’s showcase event Saturday.

The AFL’s Fall Stars game will be televised live by MLB Network at 5 p.m. PDT. The game will be played at Surprise Stadium, the spring-training home of the Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers.

Seager, 19, is the youngest player in the AFL, a finishing school for baseball’s top prospects. In 10 games with the Glendale Desert Dogs, he is hitting .162.

The Dodgers’ first-round pick in 2012, Seager was also the youngest player in the California League this year.

The left-handed-hitting Seager started his year at the Dodgers’ low-A affiliate in Great Lakes, Mich., where he batted .309 with 12 home runs and 57 runs batted in in 74 games. In the high-A Cal League, Seager hit .160 in 27 games for Rancho Cucamonga.

Garcia, 23, is in his fifth year in the Dodgers organization. A native of the Dominican Republic, Garcia spent this year at double-A Chattanooga, going 4-6 with a 2.54 earned-run average in 49 relief appearances. He struck out 85 batters in 60 1/3 innings.

Garcia has appeared in six AFL games with the Desert Dogs, posting a 2.35 ERA in 7 2/3 innings.
