Zack Greinke cruises, Dodgers hit five more homers in 11-3 win

Guess Zack Greinke is done with that spring pastime of trying new grips on pitches. He looked very serious and settled in on Saturday.

Greinke started in the Homerdome -- or Alamodome as it’s quaintly called down in San Antonio -- and was dominating.

The right-hander threw four scoreless innings in the Dodgers’ 11-3, split-squad victory over the Rangers, striking out six, walking one and giving up three hits.

Considering the way the Dodgers launched balls during this two-game trip to Texas, it was all the more impressive. The Dodgers hit five more home runs Saturday -- two by Adrian Gonzalez -- giving them 10 in the two games. Yep, the Alamodome was not constructed for baseball, as the 280-foot depth to the right-field foul pole illustrates.

Justin Turner and Enrique Hernandez also homered, as both had done Friday night in the Alamodome. Then just for fun, Buck Britton added a three-run homer in the eighth.

Juan Nicasio, who had been struggling to find his rhythm, followed Greinke and gave the Dodgers two more scoreless innings, not allowing a baserunner and striking out four. It’s an outing he needed to put together at this point.

Left-hander Ryan Buchter followed with a perfect seventh, striking out two. Then former Dodgers reliever Ramon Troncoso lost the shutout in the eighth when he surrendered a three-run homer to catcher David Lyon.

Right-hander Josh Ravin wrapped it up for the Dodgers by throwing a scoreless ninth inning, allowing one hit but striking out the side.

The Dodgers managed 17 hits in the game, though minor-leaguer Nate Samson’s double was the only hit outside of the five homers that went for extra bases.
