Dodgers’ Darwin Barney has three hits in 10-5 exhibition win over A’s

AT THE PLATE: First the good news: Darwin Barney was three for three with a run batted in and Alex Guerrero singled and scored in his only at-bat, raising his average to .471 while continuing to search for a position in the field. And now the bad: Juan Uribe is two for 21 (.095) and has hit into three double plays. Plus much of the offense Monday came from guys who won’t make the opening-day roster with infielder Darnell Sweeney hitting a pinch-hit grand slam and outfielder Scott Schebler belting a three-run homer, both coming in an eight-run eighth inning. Sweeney, who is hitting .429, and Schebler (.444) are tied for the team lead in RBIs (six) and rank 1-2 in slugging percentage.

ON THE MOUND: Zack Greinke gave up just one hit — Josh Phegley’s solo home run — in three innings in his second spring start. He struck out two, walked one and ditched the new grip he had been trying with his slider. Joel Peralta, Chad Gaudin and Yimi Garcia each pitched a scoreless inning in relief. Garcia hasn’t allowed a run in 4 1/3 innings while Gaudin has struck out seven in four scoreless innings. But Chris Hatcher got beat up Monday, allowing three runs in his only inning.

EXTRA BASES: The Dodgers made two rounds of roster moves Monday, in the morning sending pitchers Zach Lee, Chris Reed, Mike Bolsinger, Joe Wieland and Carlos Frias to the minors; in the afternoon the team sent down catcher Austin Barnes and infielders O’Koyea Dickson and Erisbel Arruebarrena.
