KEY MOMENT: With the bases loaded in the third inning, Carlos Gomez lined a double just past left fielder Andre Ethier and off the wall. All three baserunners scored, and the Brewers took a 3-0 lead.

ON THE MOUND: In his first start in almost 23 months, Brandon Beachy gave up five hits, three walks and three runs over four innings. Chin-hut Tsao pitched a scoreless two innings. In the seventh inning, Adam Liberatore gave up a solo home run to Gerardo Parra and was credited for two more runs on a bloop double by Gomez off Pedro Baez. Joel Peralta gave up run in the eighth on a Gerardo Parra double, and Juan Nicasio pitched a scoreless ninth.

AT THE PLATE: The Dodgers hardly threatened. In the first seven innings, they managed just two hits and put only one runner in scoring position. Right-hander Taylor Jungmann gave up his first run in the eighth inning on an Enrique Hernandez sacrifice fly. Jungmann allowed three hits in a complete game, the Brewers’ first of the season.

REMEMBER HIM?: On his own bobblehead night, Juan Uribe hit a home run … in the Atlanta Braves’ 3-2 win over the Colorado Rockies. Uribe was traded to the Atlanta Braves on May 27, but the team chose to keep the promotion.

FINDING FRIAS’ FIT: Right-hander Carlos Frias, placed on the disabled list July 1 with back tightness, will throw about 40 pitches of live batting practice on Sunday in Arizona. Dodgers Manager Don Mattingly hasn’t determined whether Frias will return to the rotation or the bullpen. “Carlos fits anywhere,” Mattingly said.

EXTRA BASES: Left-hander Julio Urias made his first minor-league start since eye surgery in May. The talented prospect threw two scoreless innings for the Arizona League Dodgers on Friday. … Washington Nationals starter Max Scherzer will pitch Sunday, meaning he will likely require a replacement on the All Star roster. Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw is a possible candidate. … Mattingly would like injured outfielder Carl Crawford to get about 20 more minor-league at bats, meaning he will not return immediately following the All Star break … The Dodgers made room for Beachy by optioning right-hander Josh Ravin to triple-A Oklahoma City and designating right-hander Matt West for assignment. … Left-hander Eric Surkamp, who was designated for assignment earlier this week, accepted his outright assignment.

UP NEXT: Left-hander Brett Anderson (505, 3.12 earned-run average) will face Brewers right-hander Kyle Lohse (5-10, 6.29) at Dodger Stadium on Sunday at 1 p.m. TV: SportsNet LA. Radio: 570, 1020.
