KEY MOMENT: Andrew Susac’s pinch-hit, run-scoring single in the 13th inning snapped a 2-2 tie and Gregor Blanco followed with a run-scoring double to lift the Giants to the extra-inning win. The game would have ended two innings earlier if not for Yasiel Puig’s laser throw from center field that cut down Brandon Belt at the plate.

AT THE PLATE: Carl Crawford homered for the first time in two weeks, running his hitting streak to a modest four games. But the Dodgers had only three other hits, two of those also coming in the fifth inning when the they scored both their runs on the Crawford homer and a Dee Gordon sacrifice fly. The Giants got at least one hit in each of the last six innings while the Dodgers didn’t get a hit after Hanley Ramirez’s two-out single in the sixth.

ON THE MOUND: Needing to go six innings to vest a $10-million contract option for next season, Dodgers’ right-hander Dan Haren did one better, holding the Giants to only one hit over seven innings in what was arguably his best start of the season. Haren, who struck out seven, gave up a leadoff home run to Blanco but nothing more. His teammates’ defense was more generous, though, allowing three Giants to reach on errors -- one of whom scored in the third inning to deny Haren his 14th win of the season. The Giants’ Jake Peavy was almost as good, taking a no-hitter into the fifth. The Giants got six hitless innings from their bullpen while the Dodgers saw seven relievers surrender 11 hits -- the final three coming off Kevin Correia, who also gave up three runs.

EXTRA BASES: The Dodgers erred for the cycle Monday, with their three miscues coming on a fly ball (Matt Kemp), a ground ball (Adrian Gonzalez) and a throw (Gordon). Former All-Star Chad Billingsley, who had surgery to repair the flexor tendon in his right elbow in June, was back in the clubhouse Monday but said he doesn’t expect to begin throwing again until November. Billingsley, who is rehabbing in the gym, said he could begin throwing earlier but doctors have advised caution, saying that waiting two more months would both strengthen the elbow while giving him sufficient time to prepare for spring training. Left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu, who hasn’t pitched in 10 days because of an ailing shoulder, said he feels better and continues to improve. The Dodgers hope Ryu can make one more start before the playoffs. Left-hander Clayton Kershaw was honored Monday with the Roy Campanella Award, which is awarded to the player who best exemplifies the leadership qualities of the late Dodgers catcher. The award is voted on by players and coaches, and Kershaw has won it the last two seasons.

UP NEXT: RHP Zack Greinke (15-8, 2.76 ERA) will face LHP Madison Bumgarner (18-9, 2.91) and the San Francisco Giants at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday at 7 p.m. On the air: SportsNet LA, KDOC, ESPN. Radio: 570, 1020.
