NLDS Game 5: How Dodgers, Mets match up

The Mets hurt Greinke with two second-inning home runs in Game 2, but he really only made one mistake. Yoenis Cespedes homered on a pitch more than a foot off the plate. Greinke still got the win, as usual: the Dodgers are 24-9 this season when Greinke pitches. He is 4-1 with a 2.49 ERA in seven career starts against the Mets. The Dodgers have to like those chances, so long as he stays more than a bat length from Cespedes.

A slightly awed Dodgers clubhouse used words like “electric” to describe deGrom’s Game 1 gem, when he struck out 13. “As good of an arm as I’ve seen all year,” A.J. Ellis said. “He outpitched me,” Clayton Kershaw said. deGrom hasn’t been dominant on the road over his career, at 12-7 with a 3.33 ERA, but he seemed amped up in Game 1, and his fastball jumped two to three mph.
