THE LINEUP CARD: Scott Van Slyke started in center field for the second consecutive day against a right-handed pitcher, raising questions about Andre Ethier's standing on the team. Manager Don Mattingly said he started Van Slyke because Ethier was dealing with "soreness all over the place" and not because he has demonstrated an increasing lack of range in recent weeks. "He's had some leg issues, and he's having some other issues, so we're just trying to make sure going into the [All-Star] break that we can get him out of that and feeling good," Mattingly said. "And on the back side of that, Scotty's played well and he deserves his opportunities, too."
