After feeling soreness in his right biceps on Friday night, Dodgers reliever Yimi Garcia landed on the 15-day disabled list. He did not undergo an MRI exam on his elbow, Manager Dave Roberts said.

Garcia could undergo more extensive testing when the Dodgers return to Los Angeles after the weekend. But the club determined he would not be available for at least a week, and right-hander Zach Lee was recalled to take his roster spot.

“It’s not feeling much better from yesterday,” Roberts said before Saturday’s game against the Rockies. “We can’t go a pitcher short.”

The club chose Lee as a nod to his performance with triple-A Oklahoma City, where Lee had a 1.56 earned-run average in three starts. He can aid the club as a long reliever, which Roberts felt had value at Coors Field.

Lee might not remain long with the team. Louis Coleman is expected to rejoin the Dodgers on Monday after bereavement leave.

Kazmir hurt by hitting

Scott Kazmir admitted he has been dealing with soreness in the area between his left thumb and wrist since the end of spring training. The injury developed from taking swings, which he had not done in his big league career, having spent 11 seasons in the American League.

He felt discomfort during his start Friday night, when he gave up four runs in five innings. In his last three outings, he has given up 14 runs in 13 innings.

The condition does affect him on the mound, Kazmir conceded, but he has been undergoing treatment to improve it. He wore a brace on his hand after Friday’s start.

“He’s confident, we’re confident he’ll make his next start,” Roberts said.

Spiked Turner sits

Justin Turner didn’t start Saturday after getting stepped on by Rockies catcher Tony Wolters the night before, which injured the big toe on his left foot. Wolters stepped on Turner, who was in the batter’s box, while trying to make a throw to the bases.
