ST. LOUIS — As the Dodgers took batting practice Friday, a Dodgers fan tried to get the attention of Adrian Gonzalez. The fan was wearing a Mickey Mouse hat on his head.

“Adam Wainwright sent me shopping,” the fan said.

Wainwright is the St. Louis Cardinals pitcher who accused Gonzalez of “Mickey Mouse” antics in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series. After Gonzalez hit a home run in Game 5, he waggled his fingers atop his helmet as if he were wearing Mickey Mouse ears.

The fan, Gabe Prewitt, had driven five hours to get here from his home in Lexington, Ky. Prewitt said he went to a Disney store with the intention of buying Mickey Mouse ears, but the store did not have any in stock.

So, the 30-year-old Prewitt said, he bought a kid’s Mickey Mouse costume, then ripped off the head and wore it to Friday’s game.

“The $40 was well worth it,” Prewitt said.
