Highlights of Dodger Stadium’s latest makeover

They didn’t tear up the ballpark to give it a fairly significant makeover as they did last year, but that doesn’t mean the Dodgers ownership group wasn’t at work this off-season.

Now they’re calling the changes “enhancements,” which is fine. Sitting in your seat at Dodger Stadium as the Dodgers take on the Angels on Thursday, you won’t notice any major alterations, but there are some there that will debut tonight:

-- There are now seating areas of two rows each behind both bullpens. If that’s your thing, you can watch pitchers warm up and get a view of the infield and maybe half the outfield.

-- There is a hexagonal (like the scoreboards), open-style bar behind each sitting area.

-- Behind the bars is a pair of new food offerings. In left field barbecue food is available and in right it’s Tommy Lasorda’s Italian Trattoria. These are not sit-down restaurants but concession stands.

-- There are new, permanent team stores in each corner.

-- There are also expanded entries at the field level and fans can now walk completely around the stadium on the lower level.

-- Wednesday night will also mark the unveiling of a new wireless system.

-- The 10 circular displays honoring the retired jersey numbers of ex-Dodgers have been moved from underneath the pavilion awning to under the team offices on the club level. The reason won’t shock: Their prior locations are now home to new advertising signs.
