Back in Phoenix, Dodgers’ Matt Kemp gets it going at the plate

Share

Matt Kemp stirred Friday, which was a good sign as his teammates prepared to open the season in Australia.

Kemp remained back in Phoenix to continue rehabbing from foot surgery and to play in camp games. He’d had a rough first few days at the plate this week, going 0 for 11 with six strikeouts.

But Friday, playing in a triple-A game against the White Sox, Kemp went two for four with four runs batted in. He homered and doubled, and played five innings in center field.

Fellow outfielder Carl Crawford left the game early, after one hitless at-bat.

The Dodgers said he was not injured, so it’s possible his pregnant fiancée – who’s due to deliver any time -- went into labor.
