Andrew Luck is rested, ready and eager to play Thursday night at Houston.

Whether he’s healthy enough to dress may not be settled until shortly before kickoff.

Two days after missing his first professional game, the Indianapolis Colts quarterback stayed out of the view of reporters during Tuesday’s practice and was again listed as a limited participant and day to day with an injured right shoulder.

Afterward, Luck acknowledged the recovery is going well and he hopes to start in his hometown.

Luck is no longer the only quarterback on Indianapolis’ injury report.

Backup Matt Hasselbeck, who rallied the Colts to a 16-13 overtime victory Sunday against Jacksonville, missed practice with what Coach Chuck Pagano described as an illness.

Ogletree has surgery

St. Louis Rams linebacker Alec Ogletree underwent surgery to repair his fractured right fibula on Tuesday, but Coach Jeff Fisher said the team will wait to decide whether to make a roster move with him.

The team will not place Ogletree on season-ending injured reserve, but may still place him on injured reserve/designated for return, which would allow him to return after eight weeks. Fisher said he expects Ogletree to miss more time than that, but left open the possibility that the linebacker could come back this season.

Bears’ Montgomery done for season

Chicago Bears center Will Montgomery will miss the remainder of the season because of a broken left fibula.

The team placed Montgomery on injured reserve Tuesday. He broke his leg early in Sunday’s 22-20 win over the Oakland Raiders.

Barth is a Buccaneer again

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed kicker Connor Barth for a third stint with the team. Barth’s signing was announced Tuesday, one day after rookie Kyle Brindza was released after going two for seven on field-goal attempts with two missed extra points the last two games.

Hester goes on IR but may return

The Atlanta Falcons placed wide receiver and return specialist Devin Hester on injured reserve-designated to return with a turf toe injury on Tuesday. Hester will be eligible to return at Tampa Bay on Dec. 6. Hester, who earned his fourth Pro Bowl berth in 2014, has not played this season because of the injury.

Etc.

The Minnesota Vikings have traded linebacker Gerald Hodges to the San Francisco 49ers for rookie center Nick Easton and a sixth-round draft pick.

Left tackle Jason Peters, right tackle Lane Johnson and left guard Allen Barbre didn’t practice for the Philadelphia Eagles on Tuesday along with three starters on defense.

Peters has a quad injury, Johnson has a knee sprain and Barbre’s injury is unknown. Linebackers Mychal Kendricks and Kiko Alonso, cornerback Byron Maxwell and reserve defensive lineman Brandon Bair also sat out.

The Buffalo Bills signed free agent running back Dan Herron to address an injury-depleted backfield that could be down yet another player.

Buffalo is short on running backs after General Manager Doug Whaley said rookie Karlos Williams’ status is uncertain after tests revealed he sustained a concussion.

Williams was hurt in a 24-10 loss to the New York Giants on Sunday while making his first career start in place of LeSean McCoy, who’s out indefinitely with a left hamstring injury.
