Chicago could lose the PGA Tour after September’s BMW Championship, but it’s gaining a Canadian Tour event in 2012.
The Royal Country Club of Long Grove will host top players from the Canadian Tour next Sept. 10-16. “The Grove,” as members call it, is in the northwest suburbs and used to be Hillcrest Country Club.
Canadian Tour graduates include Steve Stricker, Mike Weir, Paul Casey, Stuart Appleby, Tim Clark, Matt Kuchar, D.A. Points, Nick Watney and Stephen Ames. Over the past five years, the Canadian Tour has graduated an average of 14 players annually to the Nationwide and PGA tours.
The event will a Pro-Am, with amateurs paying $3,500 for three days of tournament play and other perks. Email Michael@DogwoodSports.com for inquiries.
