Rory McIlroy made up a two-shot deficit on Billy Horschel on Saturday in the Tour Championship. They square off again Sunday at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta with $10 million riding on the outcome.

McIlroy atoned for a pair of three-putt bogeys by rolling in a 25-foot eagle putt on the 15th hole. He closed with a superb par save from thick grass behind the 18th green for a three-under-par 67.

“I’ve come here with the ultimate goal of trying to cap it off and trying to put an exclamation point on it or the icing on the cake or whatever you want to call it,” McIlroy said. “Would it be poetic justice? I’d feel really good about it.”

Horschel led by as many as three shots during the third round until he started missing fairways and made two bogeys. He finished the round with a 69 and is tied with McIlroy at nine-under 201.

“In the middle of the year, I’m not sure if you told me I would have a chance on Sunday to win the Tour Championship and possibly the FedEx Cup and do it while going up against the best player in our game right now … no matter what happens, it’s going to be an exciting day,” Horschel said. “And hopefully, Rory and I can put on a great show.”

Jim Furyk, still with a chance to win the FedEx Cup and its $10-million bonus, had a 67 and is two shots back.

Rickie Fowler, who had a 67, and Justin Rose, who shot a 66, are three behind.

Teenager takes lead at Evian Championship

South Korean teenager Hyo-Joo Kim emerged from a third round riddled with errors by contenders to lead the Evian Championship in France by a stroke and in sight of her first major.

Kim hit four bogeys on the front nine before recovering for a one-over 72. That she regained the lead was a legacy of her remarkable 61 on Thursday, the lowest score in major history, and her rivals also dropping on the leaderboard.

Karrie Webb mixed four birdies with three bogeys in a one-under 70, leaving the 39-year-old one shot behind Kim and with a great chance of an eighth career major.

“Really just hung in there. The conditions were challenging today with the breeze,” Webb said. “I did a really good job and finished the last four in two under. That really made my round.”

Mi-Jung Hur of South Korea was two behind Kim at 6 under overall.

Overnight leader Brittany Lincicome of the U.S. dropped four shots off the lead after a six-over 77, which featured two double bogeys and a triple bogey within the first seven holes.

Wattel in control at KLM Open in Europe

Romain Wattel of France shot his third consecutive round in the 60s on Saturday to take the KLM Open lead in Zandvoort, Netherlands, at 14 under as Paul Casey narrowly missed the first ever 59 on the European Tour.

Wattel had seven birdies before a single bogey on the 17th for a 64, to follow up rounds of 67 and 65 on Thursday and Friday and take a three-shot lead over second-placed Richie Ramsay of Scotland.

Casey was third after nearly making history at the par-70 Kennemer Golf & Country Club.

Needing an eagle for a 59, his second shot on the par-four ninth — the last hole of his third round — pitched close to the cup before spinning left and off the green.

The Englishman then over-hit his chip back onto the green and two-putted to finish with his first bogey and a wry smile as he matched the course record of 8-under 62 set a day earlier by overnight leader Pablo Larrazabal.
