Kevin Pierce scored three runs on two hits with three RBI to lead Denbigh in a 9-4 victory over visiting Heritage in the season-opener for both teams. Aaron Myers and Kyle Hodges added two hits apiece for the Patriots, who pulled away early with four runs in the bottom of the third inning. Jimmy Dawson pitched five innings for Denbigh, striking out eight. Josh Evans took the loss for the Hurricanes, who had five errors.
