Lindsay Crigler returned from a three-week injury layoff to throw a 1-hitter and strike out 10 in Mathews' 22-0 victory over Colonial Beach in the Tidewater District semifinals.
The Blue Devils took an 11-0 lead after two innings, and Crigler, who was out with a groin injury, didn't give up a hit until the seventh inning. Suzanne McLaughlin, Sharese Jarvis and Virginia Scatchard all had three hits for Mathews. Lindsay Hudgins and Kaitlyn Erickson added two hits each. The Blue Devils will host King William, who defeated Middlesex 5-0, at 6 p.m. Thursday in the district final.
