The junior, who rushed for 94 yards on seven carries and two touchdowns in the first half alone, dazzled the ground as Woodside beat visiting Denbigh 37-29.
The quick start was a direct contrast from last week's game against Bethel, where the Wolverines were on the opposite end of the spectrum. Head coach Danny Dodson noted the difference.
"It was very important to get going early," he said. "We saw what being on the receiving end of that was like last week, and we wanted to change that tonight.
"We were consistent enough, and Donnell was consisten enough, that we got it done."
After Majique Key put the Wolverines up 14-0 with a 27-yard touchdown run with 7:54 left in the first quarter, the Patriots (3-4, 2-4 Peninsula District) got on the board when Allen Simon threw a 19-yard scoring strike to Paul Gostomski. Lewis added a 45-yard scoring run to close out the scoring in the first quarter and give the Wolverines (5-2, 4-2) a 21-7 lead.
Chris Molar kicked a 38-yard field goal with 7:28 left in the second quarter, before Denbigh struck again on an 11-yard touchdown run from Simon.
Javonte Parker added a 22-yard touchdown run with 3:37 left in the half to put the Wolverines up 31-14. He added a 1-yard score in the third quarter, ending the night with 53 yards on 12 carries.
Simon, who threw for 200 yards and ran for another 135 while accounting for all four of Denbigh's scores, connected with Daquane Jones for a 10-yard score late in the fourth quarter before converting the two-point conversion to cut Woodside's lead to 38-29, but the Patriots simply ran out of time.
Simon finished the night going 16-for-33 in the air, throwing two touchdowns and two interceptions including one in Woodside territory with 6:37 left in the fourth quarter.
Woodside rushed for 381 yards on the night, led by 138 from Stewart and 121 from Lewis, while only throwing four times for 32 yards.
"When you're moving the ball on the ground," Dodson said, "why change?"
Added Lewis, "We won the game. That's all that matters."
