Hunter Nakno was three for four with two RBIs and Lenny Linsky hit a three-run home run for Peninsula (2-0), which trailed, 5-0, after 2 ½ innings against visiting Carson (0-2). Dino Capaldi (1-0) pitched two innings for the victory.

Mat Senti was the winning pitcher, giving up no earned runs and two hits in two innings, and Deane Ortiz gave up one run and one hit and one walk in two innings for the loss.

Scott Baxter (1-0) pitched a three-hitter with five strikeouts and Andrew Bynum had a double for the host Sea Hawks. Mater Dei dropped to 0-2.

Jaime Dominguez of Placentia Valencia (2-0) went two for three and scored two runs and also picked up the save after retiring all three hitters he faced in the top of the seventh inning with the bases loaded. Visiting Garden Grove La Quinta fell to (0-2).

Spencer Messmore threw a complete game, striking out three, and Karl Turner doubled in the final two runs for Alemany (2-0) in the victory over Saugus (1-1). Stefan Cordes went three for four with a home run and three RBI for Saugus in the loss.

Nick Bozeman had the game-winning RBI single, the fifth hit in a row for host Burroughs (1-1), which trailed, 6-4, going into the bottom of the seventh inning against Buena (0-2). Raymond Palafox was three for four with a double and three RBIs and Bozeman finished with a pair of hits for Burroughs. Austin Holgate (1-0) led off the bottom of the seventh with a double and pitched one inning for the win.

Brando Tessar (1-0) pitched a four-hitter with one strikeout and Mark Goshgarian had a double, a single and one RBI for Chaminade (1-1) at Fillmore (0-2).

Andrew Weissberg hit a solo home run and winning pitcher James Wharton allowed four hits and struck out three in five innings for Chatsworth (2-0) at Calabasas (1-1).

Robert Almendarez was three for three with a double and Niko Garcia added a double and an RBI for Cleveland (2-0) against Harvard-Westlake (1-1) at Franklin Field. John Wilson threw four innings for the win, giving up two hits and striking out three, and Almendarez pitched the final three innings for the save.

Mike Montgomery had a two-run double and Trevor Matern hit a two-run home run to help Hart (2-0) overcome a 2-1 deficit in the top of the seventh at Dos Pueblos (1-1). Danny Susdorf and Matern each finished with two hits and Trevor Bauer was the winning pitcher, striking out four of the five batters he faced in 1 2/3 innings of relief. USC-bound Chris Joyce had a double for Dos Pueblos.

Manuel Perez doubled, tripled and scored twice for Hueneme (1-1), while Jesus Valdez was two for three with a run batted in. Jose Hernandez allowed an unearned run over six innings to earn the victory. Kennedy is 0-1-1.

Brian Morgan pitched a three-hitter with six strikeouts and three walks and Dustin Cota had three runs and three hits for Quartz Hill (1-0-1) at Crespi (1-1).

Johnny Cigliano had a double and a solo home run for host Mary Star (2-0) in the victory over Malibu (1-1).

Jack Marder went two for two with a double and Ben Cohen went two for three with two RBI and a double for Newbury Park (1-1) in the victory over host Roosevelt (1-1).

Josh Page had two hits, including a solo home run in the first inning, and pitched one relief inning for the save for Rancho Cucamonga (1-0). Matt Page, Josh's younger brother, added a double, a home run and two RBIs for the Cougars. Zach Fisher had a single, a double and one RBI for host Miller (0-1), which led, 2-1, after the first inning.

Tyler Chatwood was two for three with three runs batted in and four stolen bases for Redlands East Valley.

Dominic Dessert allowed one hit with three strikeouts in three relief innings to earn the save.

Mario Gordon struck out five and gave up three hits and one walk in six innings, Joe Terry was two for three with a double and two RBIs and Kevin Nanbara was two for three with two doubles and a run scored for host Poly (1-0) against Torrance (0-1).

Ed Ruby was the winning pitcher, giving up one earned run and six hits with five strikeouts and one walk, Ben Arroyo hit a solo home run in the first inning and Jacob Gracia stole home to score the winning run in the fifth inning for host Brea Olinda (1-0) against Carter (0-1).
Foothill 10, Corona Santiago 8
Pitcher Mario Ambriz forced a double play to end the game with bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh to preserve the victory for Foothill (1-0), which led, 10-5, going into the inning at Santiago (0-1). Starter Aaron Lambrix was the winning pitcher, giving up three earned runs and six hits with one strikeout and two walks, and Ambriz earned the save.
Corey Schultz was three for three with a double, one RBI and two runs scored and Chase Smith had two hits with a double, two RBIs and one run scored for Foothill.
Orange Lutheran 8, Tesoro 1
Robby Vaughn was three for four with three runs batted in for Orange Lutheran, while Willie Shaw went two for two, Shane Sullivan homered and Aaron Gates struck out five in four innings.

Eduardo Magallon struck out five, and allowed two hits, two walks and a run for Paramount. He was also two for four with a stolen base.

Mike Mudron pitched five scoreless innings with nine strikeouts and Jared Snow had two hits for King (1-0) at Esperanza (0-1).

Estancia (0-1) starter Ryan Redding struck out five in five innings and also had a one hit and two RBIs, losing pitcher Eddie Tomasek added two hits and one RBI and teammate Troy McClanhan had two hits in the loss at Santa Ana (1-0), which scored the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh.

Junior lefthander Paul Strong pitched six innings, walking out two and striking out eight, and Robby Herron hit a solo homer in the third inning to spark Marina in the first game for both teams.

Colton Hamill scored the game-winning run on an error on the catcher with one out in the bottom of the eighth for host Loara (1-0) against El Modena (0-1). Christian Meza went two for three with two RBIs, Hamill had a double and Michael Schaub pitched two innings for the victory.

Senior Ray Hansen went four innings, striking out nine to notch his first win. Cody Harris went two for three with an RBI and a run scored for Wilson. It was the first game for both teams.

Mickey Lorenzini, Brian Compton and Travis Garrett connected on consecutive home runs in the bottom of the fifth inning as Los Alamitos broke open a 7-5 lead.

Cody Hazel scored on a bases-loaded walk in the second inning and Bobby Barrett hit a RBI single in the top of the seventh inning for Millikan. Adam Bemowski and Hazel combined on a five-hit shutout for Millikan in the season opener for both schools.

Tyler Roth ptiched five shutout innings and Brandon Lee emptied the bases with a double to lead Trabuco Hills (1-0). Kennedy is 0-1.

Aeric Allen had a two-out, two-run double to put Alhambra up 2-1 and Noe Ramirez allowed just one unearned run in seven innings, walking no one. Bryce Rutherford had 10 strikeouts for Arcadia in the first game for both teams.

Carlos Camarena was two for three and scored both runs for Rosemead while tossing a seven-hit complete game with four strikeouts.

Chris Franco faced 19 batters in six innings, striking out six and giving up two hits, for Montebello (1-0) against Pioneer (0-1) at Veterans Stadium.

Spencer Nessmore doubled with two outs in the seventh inning for Alemany, followed by a single by Sergio Plasencia to tie the game at 2-2. Hugo Hernandez gave Alemany the lead for good with a double. Chris Rhodes pitched a scoreless sixth inning for the win and Karl Turner picked up the save.

Mike Montgomery pitched five innings, giving up two infield hits, striking out six and allowing one earned run, Jenzen Torres hit a solo homer, Trevor Matern was two for three with a double and Trevor Brown went one for three, two-run triple to power Hart. It was the first game for both teams.

Senior pitcher Eric Shultz struck out eight, walked none and threw a complete-game four-hitter for the Wolverines (1-0). Sophomore outfielder Austin Wilson had two hits and threw out a runner in the first inning trying to score from third base.
Freshman Christian Lopes of Valencia made an impressive high school debut, contributing a single and double.

Cody Chew had two hits and two RBIs and Dylan Mascarenas added a two-run home run for the host Centurions, who notched the 500th victory in program history in their season open Senior left-hander Shawn Smith pitched four shutout innings with five strikeouts to earn the victory for Saugus. Sean Kahikina hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning for Burroughs (0-1).

Eric Bernstein had three hits, two runs and three RBIs, including a two-run homer, and Chance Cross added a homer and a double for the visiting Pioneers (1-0). Jesse Conrad scoring the winning run on a bases-loaded single by Justin Hale with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Sharks (1-0) completed a four-run rally. Oscar Robles tripled and scored on an error in the third inning for Marshall (0-1). Starter Matthew Cathcart pitched five and one-third innings with nine strikeouts and Tony Gwyn pitched the last inning and two-thirds to earn the win.

Robert Arboto hit a walk-off grand slam home run in the bottom of the seventh inning for Mary Star. Danny Martinez had two hits for Mary Star and Peter Ciarmitaro struck out seven over six innings.

Zach Kaplan pitched five innings, walking one and striking out five, and Matt Weinberg went two for four with two RBI in the first game for both teams.

Right-hander Trevor Takeyama allowed three hits and one earned run with 10 strikeouts and no walks in six innings for host Chatsworth (1-0). Ryan Cooperstone went four for four with a triple and four RBI and Mark Felshaw went three for three with a double and one RBI for the Chancellors, the defending City champions. Matt Moreno and James Wharton each hit a two-run home run for Chatsworth. Raul Ramirez hit a RBI double in the third inning for Fillmore (0-1).
L.A. Roosevelt 2, San Fernando 0
Chito Alvarez tossed a complete-game three-hitter for Roosevelt (1-0).
La Salle 14, Mountain View 2 (5 innings)
James Harmon homered, with Ryan Doeppel, Dalton Salvo and Michael Palffy each getting a double as La Salle scored 11 times in the first inning.
Malibu 4, L.A. Marshall 3
Jesse Conrad scoring the winning run on a bases-loaded single by Justin Hale with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Sharks (1-0) completed a four-run rally. Oscar Robles tripled and scored on an error in the third inning for Marshall (0-1). Starter Matthew Cathcart pitched five and one-third innings with nine strikeouts and Tony Gwyn pitched the last inning and two-thirds to earn the win.
Mary Star 4, Garfield 1
Robert Arboto hit a walk-off grand slam home run in the bottom of the seventh inning for Mary Star. Danny Martinez had two hits for Mary Star and Peter Ciarmitaro struck out seven over six innings.
Montclair Prep 3, Granada Hills 0
Kelvin Tolbert pitched five shutout innings, allowing just two hits, and Enrique Zenon pitched two shutout innings to pick up the save, and was three for three after previously playing third base. Michael Evans added a couple of hits on a two-for-four game for the winners. It was the first game for both teams.
Oxnard 5, San Marcos 0
Alex Solis completed a three-hit shutout with nine strikeouts and two walks for Oxnard, while Blake Adame was two for four with a run scored and run batted in.
Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 5, Newbury Park 4
Nick Rodarte was three for three with three runs batted in and he also picked up the victory on the mound for Notre Dame.
Sun Valley Poly 5, Palisades 0
Carlos Lopez threw a five-hit shutout with six strikeouts and also went two for three in the first game for both teams.
Westlake 11, Taft 4
Steve Hagy had a three-run double and Christian Yelich added a two-run double for Westlake (1-0) in a game played at Conejo Creek Park. Jordan Mannisto pitched four innings for the win.

Corona Centennial 16, Pacific 5 (5 innings) Devin Ralston went four for four with three RBIs and three doubles, Deven Johnson was three for four with a two-run home run and three RBIs and winning pitcher Chris Torres (1-0) struck out three and gave up four hits and two walks for Centennial (1-0) at Pacific (0-1).
San Gorgonio 4, Barstow 3
Patrick Moore hit an RBI single with two outs and bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning to win the game for host San Gorgonio (1-0) against Barstow (0-1). Moore also had a sacrifice fly and finished with two RBIs and Andy Crowley had two hits with a double, an RBI and a run scored for San Gorgonio. Aaron Rueda threw three inning of relief for the win, giving up no runs and two hits with three strikeouts and one walk.
