Championship

Mira Costa 13, Narbonne 4
Mira Costa improved to 5-0 by scoring eight runs in the final two innings. Carlos Avila went two for two with a homer and a double and two RBIs and Juan Avila was two for three with a double for Narbonne (4-1).

ROYAL TOURNAMENT

Fifth Round

Oxnard 9, Birmingham 8
Trevor Newman drove in the game-winning run with one run in the bottom of the seventh inning for host Oxnard (4-1) against Birmingham (2-3). Catcher Mario Landeros picked off a runner at third with bases loaded in the seventh inning to help prevent a Birmingham rally. Alex Solis (2-0) was the winning pitcher, allowing six hits, striking out seven and walking two in 6 1/3 innings.

Taft 7, Golden Valley 3
Cody deSpain went two for three with a two-run home run and three RBI for host Taft (1-4) in the victory over Golden Valley (1-4).

INTERSECTIONAL

Great Oak 11, Scripps Ranch 3
Nico Pompeo went four for four with two home runs and three RBI for Great Oak.

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA INVITATIONAL

Semifinals

Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 9, Sun Valley Poly 1
Eric Walbridge pitched five inings, allowing one run and five hits, walking three and striking out four, to win his second game for host Notre Dame (4-0). Notre Dame scored six runs in the first innings off Carlos Lopez, 1-1, highlighted by a two-run homer by David Armendariz. Poly, now 3-1, scored in the fifth inning when Thomas Cruz reached home on a botched rundown play. Notre Dame will play Royal in the championship game.

Arleta 4, Lawndale 0
Frankie Topete pitched a complete game three-hitter with five strikeouts for Arleta (3-1).

Campbell Hall 7, Canyon Country Canyon 5
Ted Rothenburg was two for three with two runs for Campbell Hall (3-1), which scored five runs in the fifth.

Granada Hills 4, Culver City 3 (nine innings)
Arnaldo Salazar pitched eight innings, striking out five to get the win, and Nick Kirastoulis went three for four to lead Granada Hills (2-2). Host Culver City fell to 1-2-1.

L.A. Roosevelt 9, Sylmar 8
Chito Alvarez threw complete game, striking out 11 to win his second game, Eddie Almeda hit a homer and Joey Calderon had a triple to lead visiting Roosevelt (2-1-1).

Mary Star 12, South East 8
Robert Aberdo went three for three with two doubles, Kevin Stahl had two hits and three RBIs, and Josh Leyba had a double and two RBIs to lead host Mary Star (4-0). South East fell to 2-2.

Montclair Prep 13, San Marcos 0
Kelvin Tolbert pitched a six-hit shutout while striking out six and Patrick Jameson homered, doubled twice, knocked in two runs and scored three in a home victory for the Mounties (2-2). Montclair Prep's Andrew Cohen had two doubles and two runs scored.

Newbury Park 3, Santa Monica 0
Brad Grieve was two for four with two runs batted in, Brian Patelian tossed six shutout innings and T.J. Scott picked up his second save of the season for Newbury Park (3-1). Santa Monica is 2-2.

Ramiro Carreon got the win, tossing five shutout innings, and J.P. Nolan went two for three with a two-run home run for St. Francis (4-0) in the victory over host La Salle (3-1).

Thousand Oaks 3, Hart 2
Tom Hocutt had the game-winning RBI with a sacrifice fly in top of the eighth inning and Jeff Johnson pitched five and two-thirds innings, striking out five, for Thousand Oaks (4-0) in the victory over host Hart (3-1).

Quarterfinals

Monrovia 2, Cantwell Sacred Heart 1
Starter Richard Kilbury won his second game, pitching seven innings and giving up on walk, three hits and an unearned run while striking out eight. Host Monrovia is 3-1, while Cantwell Sacred Heart fell to 2-2.

Consolation

Pasadena 7, Paraclete 0
Guy Dauria threw a complete game shutout with a pair of strikeouts at Pasadena (2-2).

Santa Barbara 6, Righetti 2
Mason Radeke threw a complete game six-hitter with 12 strikeouts for Santa Barbara (3-0).

Cypress 8, Lakewood 3
Tyler Buziecki had two hits and David Nick doubled for Cypress (3-1). Lakewood falls to 2-2.

Stefan Cordes hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning and J.B. Boresma threw six innings, giving up two-earned runs and striking out two, for Saugus (2-2) in the victory over host Palmdale (1-3).

Alemany 7, Rio Mesa 1
Hugo Hernandez went three for four with an RBI, Mark Strazzeri had two hits and two RBIs, Carl Turner hit a two-run homer in the first and Ryan Molique pitched four scoreless innings in relief to lift Alemany (3-1). Host Rio Mesa fell to 2-2.

Chatsworth 7, Cleveland 1
In a rematch of last year's City championship game, James Wharton hit a two-run home run and added a three-run home run to lift Chatsworth (3-1). Trevor Takeyama (2-0) picked up the victory, allowing three hits in six innings. Stanford-bound Chris Reed took the loss. Jeremy Stearn homered for Cleveland (2-2).

Chaminade 8, West Ranch 7
Jose Jauregui was three for four and finished a single short of a cycle for Chaminade (3-1).

Crespi 6, Moorpark 2
Tyler Johnson went to 2-0, pitching five innings, allowing one run on five hits while striking out six, Sean Gilmartin went two for three with a double and an RBI and Carlos Lopez hit a triple to lead host Crespi. Both teams are 3-1.

El Camino Real 13, Hueneme 3
Zander De Leon was three for four with two RBI for El Camino Real (3-1).

Quartz Hill 13, Simi Valley 11
Travis McBride hit a grand slam in the sixth inning, when Quartz Hill (4-0) scored six times to take the lead. Jonathan Meyer hit two home runs and drove in five runs for Simi Valley (3-1), while Drew Adams added two doubles.

Valencia 3, Agoura 2
Robbie Mousselli and Taylor Dingman each hit solo home runs for Valencia (2-2).

Semifinals

West Torrance 4, Loyola 1
Kyle Petter threw a complete game, striking out 11, for host West Torrance (4-0) in the Gold Division victory over Loyola (3-1).

Long Beach Poly 5, Bellflower 3
Lewis Kirk hit a fifth-inning, two-run pinch double, Brent Tani pitched the final 2 1/3 innings, allowing no runs, striking out five while earning a save and Jordan Hinshaw went three for four with two runs and an RBI in a Gold Division victory for Long Beach Poly (3-1), which advances to the championship game. Host Bellflower fell to 3-1.

Mira Costa 6, St. John Bosco 2
Jake Jelmini was two for three with three RBIs, C.J. Strange was also two for three with an RBI and a run scored and pitchers Brent Weber (1-0) and James Glawe combined for a three-hitter while giving up no earned runs for host Mira Costa (4-0) against St. John Bosco (3-1).

Palos Verdes 4, South Torrance 2
Marc Venning hit a two-out, two-run double to break a 2-2 tie in the top of the seventh inning and finished three for four with two doubles and three RBIs for Palos Verde (2-2) at South Torrance (1-3). Andy Lines (1-0) pitched three-innings of no-hit relief for the win, walking none and striking out seven. Kevin Tanaka was two for three with two RBIs and teammate Matt Dunbar pitched six innings, giving up one earned run and six hits with three strikeouts and two walks in a no-decision for South Torrance.

Peninsula 14, San Pedro 0
Lenny Linsky pitched a complete-game shutout, striking out 10 and allowing just two hits to go 2-0, Trevor Penny was two for five with a double and an RBI and Nate Hill was two for two with a homer to lead Peninsula (3-1). Host San Pedro fell to 2-2.

Wilmington Banning 3, Gahr 0
Abel Moreno (1-0) threw 5 2/3 no-hit innings and finished giving up only one hit with seven strikeouts and two walks in six innings for Banning (2-1-1) against visiting Gahr (2-1). Alex Sixtos was two for four with a double, an RBI and a run scored for Banning.

Brea Olinda 2, Laguna Hills 1
Tyler Kern scored on a throwing error and Jacob Gracia drove in the eventual winning run with a sacrifice fly, both in the fifth inning, for host Brea Olinda (3-1) against Laguna Hills (3-1). Ed Rubi (2-0) walked three, struck out five and gave up one earned runs and four hits in a complete game for Brea Olinda.

Placentia Valencia 2, Savanna 1
Adam Bartsak struck out five over 5/13 inning and had three hits with a run batted in for Valencia (3-1). Savanna is 2-2.

Los Alamitos 7, Marina 4
Matt Avery was three for three with two RBI for Los Alamitos (4-0).

Consolation

Loara 5, Villa Park 0
Loara's Christian Meza threw a complete-game no-hitter, allowing one walk and hitting two batters while striking out 13 to lead Loara (3-1). Jacob Migliaccio went two four four with two runs and a homer and two RBIs, Marcus Meraz was two for five and scored a run and Ryan Pampogo had a two-for-four day, scoring once, for the winners.

Servite 7, Downey 3
Travis Jaime was two for three with three runs batted for Servite (2-2), all coming on a bases-loaded triple in the sixth inning at Brookhurst Park. Downey is 1-3

J Serra 14, Northwood 2
Joe Kurrasch had six strikeouts in six innings of work for J Serra (4-0).

San Gorgonio 4, Etiwanda 2
Andy Crowley went two for four with an run batted in and two runs scored for San Gorgonio (3-0), with Alex Rueda allowing four hits and an earned run while walking six and striking out five for the complete game victory. Etiwanda is 4-2.

Steve Leon had the only hit for Grace Brethren (1-2) against visiting Marshall (2-1).

Greg Zebrack hit a three-run home run and Adam Erlich had three hits and two RBIs and Logan Markley added three hits, including two doubles, for host Campbell Hall (2-1). Yuri Cervantes had a RBI triple in the fourth inning for Birmingham (1-2).

Oxnard 12, Taft 2 (6 innings, mercy rule)
Blake Adame hit a grand slam in the sixth inning and added a double and a single and scored two runs and freshman Austin Davidson (1-0) had five strikeouts in five innings for Oxnard (2-1) at Taft (0-3).

South East 10, North Hollywood
Mike Yeh was two for four with three RNI for South East (2-1).

NONLEAGUE

Fairfax 17, Washington Prep 4 (5 innings, mercy)
Juan Bruno, Jeffrey Lopez and Robert Eusey each had two hits for Fairfax (1-0).

Senior Nicholas Alarcon of West Torrance (3-0), in his first outing, pitched a complete game giving up just two singles and striking out eight . Senior Sho Tayama was three for four for the Warriors with three RBI, three stolen bases and two runs scored.

Narbonne 9, Mayfair 4
Carlos Avila was two for three with two runs batted in for Narbonne (3-0), with Kevin Logan two for three with an RBI. Mayfair falls to 1-2.

El Segundo 15, Crenshaw 8

NONLEAGUE

Sherman Oaks CES 18, Central City Value 1 (5 innings)
David Leong was four for four with five runs batted in and three runs scored for Sherman Oaks CES, while Zack Edgerton-torti and Christian Cruz each drove in three runs. Ian Erlich scored three times and struck out five in three innings to earn the victory.
