ROOSEVELT TOURNAMENT

First Round

Alhambra 5, Verdugo Hills 3
Robert Alvarez threw three shutout innings to improve to 5-0 and was two for three at the plate with two RBIs to lead host Alhambra (11-1). Verdugo Hills fell to 12-4.

Pool Play

South East 13, Maywood 0 (5 innings)
Jonathan Felix was three for three with a double, three RBIs and a run scored, Ulysses Solano had two triples with one RBI and two runs scored and Ceasar Carrillo (1-0) gave up two hits and struck out four in five innings for host South East (9-7) against Maywood (5-1).

VALLEY LEAGUE

Arleta 17, Fulton Prep 0 (5 innings)
Alex Gutierrez tossed no-hitter for Arleta.

WEST VALLEY LEAGUE

Birmingham 9, Granada Hills 4
Jake Granitz was three for four with two doubles, an RBI and three stolen bases, Vince Schiavoni had two hits, two RBIs, two runs scored and three stolen bases and Anthony Gutierrez had two hits and a stolen base for host Birmingham (7-7, 2-2) against Granada Hills (0-4 in league). Kevin Torres (2-1) threw six innings for the victory

Chatsworth 1, El Camino Real 0
The Chancellors (13-4, 3-0) scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning on a dropped pop fly with the bases loaded, the third error of the inning for El Camino Real. Both pitchers, Michael Booth of El Camino Real and Michael Renner of Chatsworth, were in control for much of the game.
