ROOSEVELT TOURNAMENT

Championship game

Roosevelt 5, South East 0
Daniel Vargas was two for three with a double and two RBIs and Miguel Helguera threw five innings, allowing just one hit and striking out seven to improve to 7-1 for Roosevelt (27-5-1). Host South East dropped to 16-12.

SUNSET SIX LEAGUE

Grant 9, North Hollywood 8
Rafael Lara went one for two and had two RBIs in the victory for the Lancers (15-8, 9-3). Victor Hernandez and Raul Ramirez Jr. each finished with an RBI on one for three batting for host Grant. Ramirez also struck out two batters to get the save.

WEST VALLEY LEAGUE

Chatsworth 18, El Camino Real 9
James Wharton (4-1) was the winning pitcher and went three for six with a home run and three RBIs for Times No. 25 Chatsworth (22-5, 11-1), which got at least two hits from each batter. Derek Neely was three for five with a home run and two RBIs, Ryan Cooperstone was three for five with a home run and double and Carlos Escobar went two for three with a three-run home run for Chatsworth. Steve Slonaker was four for four with a home run, double and two RBIs for host El Camino Real.

Cleveland 10, Taft 0
Niko Garcia went two for three with two stolen bases and three runs scored, Rigo Ramirez was two for three with a double and a homer, Robert Almendarez went two for four with a homer, John Wilson had a pinch-hit two run homer and Chris Reed pitched a complete-game shutout, allowing three hits while striking out seven to lead Cleveland (21-6-1, 8-4). Host Taft fell to 11-15, 5-7.

Birmingham 4, Granada Hills 1
Daniel Mora was two for three with an RBI for Birmingham (9-12, 4-8).

VALLEY MISSION LEAGUE

Granada Hills Kennedy 13, Reseda 0
Carlos Gonzalez was two for two with three RBIs for Kennedy (17-10, 11-1).

COLISEUM LEAGUE

Crenshaw 24, Jefferson 5 (5 innings)
Kenji Corbisiero came up a home run shy of hitting for the cycle, finishing four for five with four runs and four RBIs for Crenshaw (10-2 in league), which plays Fremont for league title Tuesday.

EASTERN LEAGUE

L.A. Roosevelt 8, South East 1
Daniel Vargas was two for two with five RBIs, Jonathan Alatriste went two for two with a triple and three runs scored and Chito Alvarez (13-1) pitched complete game, giving up four hits and striking out 12, for Roosevelt (26-5-1, 13-1) against visiting South East (16-11, 7-7).

MARINE LEAGUE

Narbonne 18, Washington 1 (5 innings)
Chris Park was three for three with three triples and four RBIs for Narbonne (21-6, 10-2).

NORTHERN LEAGUE

L.A. Marshall 11, Franklin 1 (5 innings)
Simi Machado threw a complete game three-hitter with seven strikeouts and Mark Andrade had three hits and three RBIs for Marshall (23-4, 12-0).

Wilson 3, Lincoln 2 (8 innings)
Ernie Ruiz pitched whole game, striking out seven, allowed five hits and went three for four with a homer, George Delacruz went two for four and Jason Ruiz had the game-winning hit for host Wilson (10-8, 7-5).

SOUTHERN LEAGUE

Maywood Academy 7, Los Angeles 4 Eric Escamilla pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing two earned runs while striking out seven to improve to 4-0, to lead Maywood (11-6, 6-2). Host Los Angeles dropped to 16-6, 8-2.

EASTERN LEAGUE

South East 6, Garfield 5
Frankie Armas gave up five runs in six innings of work on the mound to get the victory and was four for four at the plate, highlighted by a game-winning, two-run single in the sixth for South East (16-10, 7-6).

SUNSET SIX LEAGUE

Verdugo Hills 9, Van Nuys 1
The Dons (19-9, 9-2) broke a scoreless tie in the second inning with seven runs and the visiting Wolves never challenged for the lead. Verdugo Hills got a pair of three-run homeruns by Jimmy Garcia and Miguel Sanchez to move into first place in league. The Dons pitching staff of Cory Burgard (4-2), Sanchez, Michael Brunson and Tommy Neuzil scattered six hits and gave up one unearned run in the victory.

VALLEY LEAGUE

Arleta 12, Northridge 0 Frankie Topete (6-2) pitched a perfect game, striking out 12 batters in five innings in a home victory. The Mustangs improved to 16-6, 11-0. Northridge Academy falls to 16-5 in league play.

Fulton Prep 19, Vaughn 5
Marcos Aguilar went two for two with a triple, double, six RBIs and three runs scored and Joaquin Briceno was the winning pitcher, striking out nine and walking two in a four-hitter, for visiting Fulton Prep.

Sherman Oaks CES 11, Discovery Prep 1 (5 innings)
Cody Woods went two for three and hit a homerun to lead Sherman Oaks CES to victory. Matt Baker struck out eight batters for the Knights.

VALLEY MISSION LEAGUE

Granada Hills Kennedy 10, Panorama 0 (five innings)
Chris Orneleas had two hits and two RBIs for Kennedy (16-10, 10-1).

WEST VALLEY LEAGUE

Chatsworth 14, Taft 0 (five innings)
Matt Moreno went two for two with a double and Kasey Toven went three for four with a triple and an RBI for host Chatsworth (21-5, 10-1) in the victory over Taft (11-14, 5-6).

Cleveland 11, Birmingham 1 (five innings, mercy)
Juan Perez was two for three with three RBIs, Nick Kaid was two for three with two runs scored and David Carver pitched all five innings, allowing only four hits, for host Cleveland (20-6-1, 7-4), which scored eight runs in the bottom of the fifth with nobody out. Birmingham fell to 8-14, 3-8.

Granada Hills 5, El Camino Real 4 (eight innings)
David Park walked with the bases loaded to drive in the winning run for Granada Hills (9-17, 2-9) in the bottom of the eighth inning. Nathan Davis tossed 7 and 2/3 innings, allowing 4 unearned runs, and Daniel Pohl went three for four for the Highlanders. El Camino Real fell to 6-5 in league.

MARINE LEAGUE

Narbonne 20, Gardena 1 (four innings)
Salvador Ramos was three for three with an RBI and three runs scored and Juan Avila was two for two with his 20th double of the year, three RBIs and two runs scored for Narbonne (20-6, 9-2) against visiting Gardena (1-10 in league).

NORTHERN LEAGUE

L.A. Wilson 11, Belmont 3
Laramie Martinez went three for four with two doubles and three RBIs and Jorge de la Cruz was also three for four with two RBIs for Wilson (9-8, 6-5) at Belmont. Jonathan Rojas pitched a complete game for the victory.

Marshall 7, Eagle Rock 1
Alex Sapin pitched a complete-game five-hitter and Antonio Hernandez went three for three with three doubles and four RBIs for host Marshall (22-4, 11-0).

EASTERN LEAGUE

Garfield 5, L.A. Roosevelt 3
Fernando Naredo went one for three with a double and two RBI and picked up the save and Oscar Preciado tossed 6 1/3 innings, scattering six hits, to earn the win for host Garfield (7-6, 9-13), snapping L.A. Roosevelt's 44-game league winning streak.
