Senior Lonzo Ball had 27 points and brothers LiAngelo and LaMelo had 22 and 25 points, respectively, to lead Chino Hills past Las Vegas Bishop Gorman, 98-81, Saturday night in the Nike Extravaganza at Santa Ana Mater Dei High.

Lonzo had eight rebounds, seven assists and seven steals. Chino Hills is ranked No. 1 by The Times and No. 1 in the nation by USA Today.

“We get fired up every game, but it’s definitely fun when the place is packed,” said LiAngelo, a junior.

Setting the stage for the Balls was future teammate Ike Anigbogu, who had 11 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks to lead Corona Centennial, ranked ninth by The Times, to a 50-46 win against Concord De La Salle.

“I’m working really hard on my post moves and my free throws,” said Anigbogu, a 6-10 center who has signed with UCLA, where his sister Ada is a sophomore on a full academic scholarship. “We’ve all played together or against each other and in fact T.J. [Leaf] was on my Compton Magic AAU team. [Bruins coach] Steve Alford texted me ‘good luck’ today. We keep in contact a lot and I’m excited to join T.J. and Lonzo there next season.”

In the final game of the evening, Westwood-bound forward T.J. Leaf had 27 points as El Cajon Foothills Christian lost 61-53 to host Mater Dei. Senior center M.J. Cage, who has signed with Oregon, scored 20 for the Monarchs (23-3), ranked No. 4 by The Times.

Added LaMelo, a freshman: “We’ve been playing with each other our whole lives, which is why we play so well together.”

Earlier, Ethan Anderson and Robert McRae each scored 15 points, and Fairfax defeated Los Alamitos, 65-56.

The Lions (24-3), ranked 12th in the Southland by The Times, overcame 27 points by point guard Eyassu Worku, who also had six assists and five rebounds.

Anderson, a freshman, made a layup to put the Lions ahead by nine points with just over one minute left, then rebounded a missed free throw to set up the clinching layup by Donald Gipson with 27 seconds left.

“This was good to make sure we can withstand the battle,” said Anderson, who had seven rebounds and five assists. “I like the ball in my hands at the end and the seniors have definitely helped me. They trust my talents and they trust me to make the right plays.”

Pepe Garcia had 10 points for the 13th-ranked Griffins (21-4).

Westchester (22-5), ranked 11th by The Times, beat 14th-ranked Orange Lutheran, 70-50. The Comets outscored the Lancers, 20-5, in the second quarter.
