Prep basketball roundup: Corona Centennial rolls to its eighth consecutive victory

There’s only three basketball games left in Corona Centennial’s regular season, and the Huskies sure look like they’ll be heading into peak form for the Southern Section Open Division playoffs.

Centennial (22-3, 7-0) won its eighth consecutive victory on Tuesday with a 74-46 victory over Corona. Jaylen Clark scored 18 points and Allen McBride 14.

Brentwood is 21-2 and 3-0 in the Gold Coast League after an 85-45 win over Viewpoint. Brett Polson scored 16 points and JR Olofson 15 points.

In the Foothill League, Valencia defeated Hart 84-71. Jake Hlywiak scored 19 points and Richard Kawakami had 18 points to help the Vikings improve to 19-5 and 7-0 in league.

West Ranch knocked off Saugus 61-50. Dylan Stuman scored 24 points.

Darius Mason scored 28 points and Danny Pina 20 in Pasadena’s 89-69 win over Hoover.

Palos Verdes improved to 20-3 with a 53-39 win over Mira Costa.

Heritage Christian defeated Whittier Christian 111-45. Skyy Clark scored 21 points.

In girls’ basketball, Chaminade improved to 5-0 in the Mission League with a 57-49 win over Marlborough. Jasmine Rodriguerz scored 21 points and Alexis Whitfield added 15 points.
