Baseball: Seth Kaneen leads Corona to 8-0 win over Norco

Sending a message that it’s one of the top teams in the Inland Empire, Corona routed Norco, 8-0, on Tuesday in a Big VIII League game.

Left-hander Seth Kaneen threw a three-hitter, striking out 10. He improved to 3-0 and has 28 strikeouts in 21 innings.

Corona improved to 6-2 and 3-0 in league.

South Hills 3, Mater Dei 1: Brennan Piceno, Andres Alvarez, Jacob Ramos and Hayden Petrovick pitched the Huskies (6-1) to a nonleague victory. Sophomore John Dearth had an RBI double.

Oxnard 3, Santa Barbara 2: The Yellowjackets (11-1) rallied for two runs in the seventh to win the Channel League game. Trevor Moropoulos had thrown six scoreless innings. Kaiser Weiss had an RBI single.

Ventura 3, Buena 2: Ventura won in eight innings. Jack Coupart had three hits for Buena. Austin Rubick struck out eight in seven innings.

Cypress 5, Los Alamitos 3: Jerren Duran had home run, single and three RBI and James Acuna struck out seven in six inning. Jake Yarger homered for Los Alamitos.

Corona Santiago 8, King 4: A seven-run first inning that featured a leadoff triple by freshman Brice Turang propelled the Sharks to a Big VIII League win. Turang had three hits and Ryan Williams added two hits.

Mira Costa 4-2, El Segundo 1-5: Michael Rumpp struck out 11 for Mira Costa in the first game. in the second game, Alex Rios and Noah Bergren had two RBI apiece.

Bishop Amat 3, La Salle 2: Nick Valdez drove in the winning run in the seventh for Bishop Amat. He finished with two hits and two RBI. Sergio Robles added two hits. Kyle Cuellar had two hits for La Salle.

Burroughs 6, Sheldon 0: The Indians’ Thomas Wilson struck out eight, walked two and allowed five hits in the shutout. Anthony Bocanegra had two doubles. Burroughs also defeated Grisham, 9-3. Tyler Lewis had a triple and Max Haddad had two hits.

Gahr 12, St. John Bosco 2: Gahr took advantage of St. John Bosco fielding woes for the nonleague win.

Servite 3, Placentia Valencia 1: The Friars came up with the nonleague victory.

Temescal Canyon 16, Lakeside 1: Devin McKesson had three hits and four RBI. He also struck out the side in the seventh in relief.

Cate 5, New Community Jewish 4: Cate got the victory.

Irvine University 3, Beckman 2: Jacob Collins struck out seven for University.
