Baseball: Boras Classic begins on Tuesday

Ten of the 16 teams in the Boras Classic are in The Times’ top 25. Action begins on Tuesday at JSerra and Santa Ana Mater Dei in what should be one of the top tournaments in the nation.

Huntington Beach and Chaminade, which played in the championship game of the National High School Invitational last week in North Carolina, are part of the tournament and will face strong competition from the likes of JSerra, ranked No. 1.

The first-round games on Tuesday at JSerra: Sherman Oaks Notre Dame vs. Great Oak, 9 a.m.; South Hills vs. El Camino Real, noon; Chaminade vs. La Costa Canyon, 3 p.m.; JSerra vs. Corona Santiago, 6 p.m.

At Mater Dei: Vista Murrieta vs. Orange Lutheran, 9 a.m.; Huntington Beach vs. North, noon; Damien vs. Mira Costa, 3 p.m.; Loyola vs. Mater Dei, 6 p.m.
