Basketball: Bishop Montgomery seeded No. 1 in Southern California Regional
After winning the Southern Section Open Division championship on Saturday night, Bishop Montgomery has been seeded No. 1 in the Open Division of the Southern California Regional. City Section champion Fairfax is No. 2, Etiwanda No. 3 and Mater Dei No. 4.
Opening games on Friday: St. Augustine at Bishop Montgomery; Westchester at Mater Dei; Foothill Christians at Etiwanda; Orange Lutheran at Fairfax. Winners advance to March 17 and the regional final is March 21 at the Pyramid.

In the girls’ Open Division, Chaminade is the No. 1 seed, Mater Dei No. 2, Long Beach Poly No. 3 and Clovis West No. 4.
The opening games on Friday: Narbonne at Chaminade; Alemany at Clovis West; Mission Hills at Long Beach Poly; Palisades at Mater Dei.
