The development of 6-foot-10 Bennie Boatwright of Sun Valley Village Christian into one of the top players in Southern California is one of the story lines of this year's playoffs.

On Saturday at the Honda Center, Boatwright put on a show, scoring 30 points and getting 13 rebounds to lead the Crusaders to the Southern Section 1AA championship with a 79-61 win over top-seeded Great Oak.

Boatwright, who signed with USC, made nine of 18 shots and 11 of 13 free throws. Clifton Powell added 17 points, Josh Caston 14 and Kahlil Simplis 11.

Latrelle Franklin led Great Oak with 25 points.
