Boys’ basketball: Colin Cuniff makes 10 threes for Damien

Balls were going through the net so often at Damien High’s gym on Tuesday night that Colin Cuniff set a school record by making 10 threes in a 112-66 Baseline League victory over Los Osos.

Even at halftime, people were making shots. Baseball player Harrison Spohn hit a half-court shot to win $100.

Cuniff finished with 30 points. Elijah McCullough had 29 points and Cameron Shelton 24.

Chino Hills’ winning streak reached 54 consecutive victories and 19-0 this season after a 106-54 win over Upland. LiAngelo Ball, who missed a game last week with a sprained ankle, returned to score 21 points. LaMelo Ball had 29 points and Eli Scott 21 points. Onyeka Okongwu had 11 points and 14 rebounds.

Kennedy Edwards had 15 points in Etiwanda’s 73-49 win over Rancho Cucamonga.

In the Big VIII League, Corona Centennial defeated Corona, 77-52. Jalen Hill finished with 24 points. Roosevelt improved to 3-0 with a 65-54 win over King. Matt Mitchell scored 30 points and Jemarl Baker had 18 points and seven assists.

In the Foothill League, Golden Valley took over sole possession of first place with a 46-43 win over Saugus. Valencia defeated Canyon, 57-47. West Ranch held off Hart, 49-48. Chris Joo scored 14 points for West Ranch.

In an Olympic League upset, Maranatha knocked off Heritage Christian, 63-58. Chris Austin hit a key three down the stretch. Austin finished with 23 points. Sean Espinosa had 17 and Terrance Lang 14.

Esperanza improved to 18-1 with a 56-36 win over Foothill. Brendan Harrick had 24 points and KZ Okpala 21.

Brentwood defeated McAuliffe, 92-39. Finley O’Rourke scored 21 points and Charley Wadler added 20. Paraclete defeated Viewpoint, 63-57.

Highland improved to 7-0 in the Golden League with a 58-47 win over Eastside. Justen Miller and Dante Williams each scored 18 points.

Redondo defeated Palos Verdes, 70-44. Jailen Moore had 12 points.

Trailing, 64-63, with four seconds left, Peninsula got a three at the buzzer kfrom Wony’a Singleton to defeat Inglewood, 66-64. Blake Godbold scored 17 points. Peninsula is 3-0 in the Bay League.

In a game from Monday night, Charles Neal scored 38 points but Rancho Mirage lost to Manteca, 86-84, in overtime in the Bay Area.
