The development of Fairfax senior point guard Lindsey Drew was confirmed on Thursday when it was announced that the coaches selected him City Section basketball player of the year.

Drew started his career as a junior varsity player as a freshman. He was awkward, relatively weak and had not experienced a growth spurt. By his senior year, he was nearly 6 feet 4, a shot blocker, a rebounder, a terrific passer, a tough defender and a clutch scorer. He led Fairfax to the City Section Open Division championship.

He joins his oldest brother, Larry II, who was the City player of the year for Taft in 2008. Another brother, Landon, is a former All-City player for Fairfax.
