At first glance, 6-foot-6 Jacob Breeland of Trabuco Hills doesn't look like he could outrun a defensive back. But that's what he has been doing this season as a junior receiver, which ought to start exciting college recruiters looking for a tall receiver with a little speed.
He had a 45-yard touchdown catch on Thursday night in a 28-26 loss to Santa Margarita, his fifth touchdown catch of the season. He had 128 yards receiving against Fountain Valley and 112 yards against Huntington Beach.
Against Santa Margarita, he caught four passes for 87 yards. Breeland used to be a quarterback. Now he's a quarterback's best friend.
