Under orders from the superintendent of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, Alemany High has moved its scheduled Mission League football game against Chaminade on Friday, Oct. 3, to Thursday, Oct. 2, because of Yom Kippur.

Chaminade made the request because it has the largest Jewish student population among the Catholic schools in the Archdiocese. Chaminade has agreed to compensate Alemany if there’s a significant loss in gate revenue, according to a memo sent out by Sal Pilato, the high school superintendent.

Chaminade was admonished for “not being better prepared for the April 2014 league meeting” when decisions were made on scheduling.
